MGOCSM & OYCM Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) is the student wing of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Any student of a College or a High School who belongs to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church shall be eligible to become a member of the Movement. MGOCSM keeps up smooth links with different academic fields and desciplines and formulated its Auxiliaries in Schools, Colleges, Engineering, and Medical etc. Annual conferences are conducted every year in a grant way. Now MGOCSM got several centers across Malankara. The Platinum Jubilee of Student's Movement was celebrated in 1983 on a grand scale in the Old Seminary. MGOCSM started Book shop and publishing house at Kottayam, and it functions very effectively. The movement publishes books relating to historical, patristic, and sacramental matters of the Church. 1.1. OUR PARISH MGOCSM & OYCM
PARISH YOUTH LEAGUE The St. Gregorios Philadelphia MGOCSM Unit is one of the most vibrant and active youth organizations in the Philadelphia area. Our mission follows along with the general mission of the MGOCSM which is "Worship, Study, and Service". Gregorios MGOCSM unit is actively involved in all three aspects of this motto, through bible studies, fellowships, various social services and charities. The youth league and MGOCSM is very active, and our youth feel that the church is for them and they show their interest in being a part of the same. The church gives utmost priority to youth programs and allows a youth representative to be a member of the church managing committee. The youth participation in the church building project is very much commendable. They lead house to house Christmas caroling every year to raise fund for the church. We are proud that it is in our Parish, our diocesan Metropolitan started the self-dedication service for the teenagers, for the first time in the diocese. Excerpts from New Church Project - Preconstruction Activities:
"Site Clearance: It is a very encouraging discovery that our Youth of the Parish had initiated for the Site clearance as a pre-construction phase. The bare land acquired was with thick wood and with a swimming pool. Youth of the Church had put tremendous effort for rooting out the trees and closing the swimming pool. This initiation of the Youth had not only reduced the construction cost but also it inculcated a confidence the next generation is very keen in Church and worship. Many parts of the world especially in America it is one of the great fear that next generation will be not interested for Church activities and they try hard to implement new strategies for the attraction of its youth. But our Youth are exception for this fear. This gives us very high confidence level to endeavor for such a big project by the parish. The future and hope of our Church and congregation is our enthusiastic youth front. The Church fosters the passion and dreams of our youth empowering them to support our ministry and project at all level and they gained the respect of the entire Church as sons and daughters, by their dedication and devotion towards various Church activities." MGOCSM Bible Study is being held once or twice ever month Way of the Cross Ministry Bible Study By Dn Gheevarghese John Sessions are normally held by Gheevarghese Semassen or Jigi Mathew followed by praise and worship and group activities.
